BenShed’s move to its home at 18 Oxford Road in Benson was made possible by raising £5,000 to take a three year lease of the building. However, buying the lease was only the first step. We estimate that the annual cost of keeping the lights on will be around £5,000. This includes the cost of utilities including gas, electricity and water rates, waste removal, insurance covers and general maintenance. The annual running costs have to be paid for by members, so we have budgeted for these on the basis that we hope to attract at least 50 members prepared to pay £100 a year to support the Shed.
Over the next three years we hope to raise enough money to buy the building. We have therefore negotiated an option to purchase the site for £55,000. You can help us to do this if you are able to make a donation in addition to .
The Shed is a registered charity and qualifies for Gift Aid, so any donation you make benefits the Shed by an additional 25% from HMRC. You also get higher rate tax relief.
