Vice Admiral Charles Blois Miller is buried in Benson’s historic churchyard, and his centenary falls in July. Vice Admiral Miller was quite an illustrious sailor – you can read about him here https://www.dreadnoughtproject.org/tfs/index.php/Charles_Blois_Miller.
BenShed member Chris, a keen model builder, is busy making a model of HMS Nottingham. A Town-class light cruiser of the Royal Navy that was commanded by Miller, HMS Nottingham played a significant role during World War I before being sunk by a German submarine on 19th August 1916.
Commemorations will take place in St Helen’s Churchyard on Saturday 11th July, 3-5pm.
